To begin with, I found the first book in the thrift store. I'd seen Terry Brooks name a hundred times in the bookstore and just didn't know anything about him. I found the first book in this series for 99 cent so I figured I'd give it a chance. What I didn't realize at the time was that this was the first book in this trilogy yes, but not nearly the first book in the world of Shannara by a mile. It's like, at least a dozen books into this massive series. I'm really happy though, because I have found a new world of fantasy, albeit 30 years later than most people. The first book, The Sword of Shannara, came out in 1977. That is where you want to start with this series. I'm on the 3rd book of this trilogy, The Voyage of the Jerle Shannara, and you can read it without having read the others, but I wouldn't have done that if I'd known ahead of time. It took me about half way into the first one in this series to really get into it. When it's a more involved story, especially a series, you have to be more patient and allow for background. But, about half way through, I was really into it. The style of this writing is very classic fantasy. It's got Druids, elves, dwarfs, trolls, princes and kings, witches, seers, etc. So far, they have been 100% clean, no language, no sex...so, I'm happy about that. I don't know that there won't be any of that in any of the other books, but so far, I'm very pleased and very drawn into this awesome land of Shannara.

Life

Life, you are totally awesome these last few episodes. The last one specifically. When Crews took out Roman Nevocov (however his name is spelled), that was just cool. I mean, there aren't a whole lot of actors that can pull that off and I wouldn't have guessed Damian Lewis would be that guy. Just, the way he's played this character from the beginning makes me believe that he really can make things happen if he wants to open up to his dark side. I did think that Danni was done. They brought in Gabrielle Union and Sarah Shahi looks really pregnant, so I'm guessing she may have been really pregnant during the last several months which is why her part was greatly reduced. I thought maybe she wouldn't be coming back after her baby and Gabrielle Union was going to take her place. I was sad. But, now, hopefully, I won't have to be. Seriously, this last episode had to be one of the very best if not the best since the beginning.

Heroes, Season 4: Fugitives

Okay, seriously, I am in love with Heroes this season. I hated season 3 with a passion. Season 4 though, it has reminded me why I love this show to begin with. THANK YOU writers for pulling this show back from the brink. I really hope there are no cancellation rumors anymore.

Heroes: Fugitives

Hello, Heroes is BACK. I'm so happy. I pushed through Volume 3: Villians, hating it thoroughly all the way through. I would have 5 episodes in my DVR queue before I'd make myself watch one. The reason I pushed through is because I read an article in Entertainment Weekly, several weeks back, that said the writers were going to 'fix' this series in Volume 4. They were going to get back to the formula that made the show a hit to begin with. They had too many heroes, too many storylines. So, they are supposed to trim all that up. I'm excited. I've watched all the episodes, including last nights, and I'm hooked again. I love how things are going. I know who the good guys are again and I love my good guys. For the record, I think Noah is a hero, not a villian. He'll show it, I feel it :)

I LOVE HER...i think it's a her :)
I was at the Goodwill store today, just to see if there was anything fun. I bought 3 books and a brand new book lover's edition of Trivial Pursuit. As I was going to check out, I passed a shelf with random things and saw this little figurine, about 5 inches tall and I absolutely love it. I know nothing about it though. It doesn't even say where it was made. There is NO identifying information on her. If you know anything about this figurine or have any thoughts about where it came from, please let me know. I would love to know if there are more like her. She cost me a whole $1 :)
